There was a cement truck that was swallowed up by a sink hole in Dunkirk, New York in a very scary situation.

The sinkhole was so deep that the town's equipment couldn't even reach the bottom to try and figure out why and how this even happened. The equipment goes down between 4 and 5 foot because that is how deep the utility lines are, but the root of the problem was even below that. The chief of Public Works in Dunkirk said:

There was a brick, a handmade brick,” Woodbury said. “A 140-year-old storm drain down there and it hadn’t seen the light of day for 140 years. A couple of bricks fell out because one of our waterlines was leaking a little bit. The cement truck was it — that broke the storm sewer", according to WIVB.

The workers did a great job. They repaired it within days and that is no easy task.

Potholes are a crazy, bad problem this year in New York State

POTHOLES: The potholes in New York State are absolutely crazy this year as well. The weather is the biggest factor when it comes to why the potholes are actually forming. Salt is another reason that the roads end up becoming vulnerable and screwed up for drivers. There is a way that you can actually get your money back if you have any car damage from a pothole. Now, the most important thing is knowing who is responsible for the street--it could be the town, the county that you live in or either the New York State DOT. The second thing that you should do that is very important is take pictures of the pothole and damage to your car right away and make sure that you submit your claim in a timely manor. You will have to check the sites for each municipality to see what kind of reimbursement each offer for the damage that your car has from the pothole.
