Speed Limiters Being Put in Certain Cars in New York State
New York State may be mandating a new law that would force certain people to have a speed limiter in their car at all times.
There is a new law that would limit how fast delinquent drivers can go. They would have a new device in the car that would not let them go over the speed limit--too much, that is.
It is called the STOP SUPER SPEEDERS ACT in New York State
If it is approved, the idea is that it would go into effect for drivers with 6 or more 'red light' tickets or more than 11 points on their license in a 2 year span. Something that would really come into play are the cameras that are posted in certain towns that catch drivers passing school busses or red lights.
Can people with the devices go over the speed limit at all?
They will be able to go over the speed limit 5 miles per hour and that was it. There are 3 states that have already adopted this policy. Will New York State be the 4th to do so?
There are some people who think this is a great idea and that bad drivers should have some other privileges revoked. Others do question the bill though. While they do think that there are some dangerous drivers, there are some situations where you might need to speed up your car to avoid certain situations in order to make them a little more safe. What do you think if this became the new law in New York State?
