Brett Eldredge And Luke Combs Made Festival History In 2019

The WYRK Towne Auto Taste Of Country is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. As we're getting ready for the big night, we're looking back on the shows that got us to this milestone. In 2019, we had a strange situation come up that we hadn't ever seen before.

The 2019 Taste Of Country Lineup, when it was announced

I've been going through every lineup for every show we've held so far. In 2019, this was the original lineup that we announced:

Brett Eldredge

Luke Combs

Lee Brice

Joe Diffie

Jillian Eliza - TOC Riser Competition Winner

That was the order that the acts were originally slated for. This may have been our best lineup ever. Every single one of these acts could have been a headliner. Joe Diffie played his last show in Buffalo before he passed, then, three headliner-caliber artists played for the rest of the night.

Brett Eldredge was originally supposed to be our headliner

At the time we introduced this lineup, Brett Eldredge was one of the hottest singers in country music. We felt incredibly fortunate to have him on our bill. Luke Combs was on his way up, for sure.

Almost as soon as we announced the show, Luke Combs became a monster star. It was almost as quick as Ella Langley has jumped to the top of the charts. His incredible streak of #1's just kept coming!

We didn't ask Brett Eldredge to do it, but he realized what a star Combs was. He was incredibly gracious and offered to switch spots on the lineup with Luke. It was a very humble thing for Brett to do, and it turned out to be the right thing. Luke Combs has turned out to be a mega-star and we were very fortunate to have both of them on the bill. It was easily one of the best shows we've ever had.
