It's easy to let a day fly by and then miss out on certain things.  But Paula's Donuts wants to make sure that no one misses out on Paczki Day.

Paczki Day only comes once a year, and once it's gone, it's gone.  But Paula's Donuts is offering people a chance that missed out on their paczki yesterday, to get one today too.

According to WKBW, Paula's is going to be offering paczki's today until they're gone.

Yes...even on Ash Wednesday for those who do not take part in the Lenten Sacrifice.

They are encouraging people to make their order online first before coming to the store to avoid long lines and to keep people moving in and out of the stores quickly.

They offer a couple of different flavors too.  Of course, the traditional paczki is filled with a fruit jam.  The ones that we normally see are filled with strawberry, blackberry, blueberry, or plum.  But at Paula's you can get Black Raspberry, Bavarian & Lemon in powder or glaze.

Paczki is a Polish tradition that is heavy in Buffalo due to how many people we have in this area that are of Polish descent.  It's something that started because Lent is traditionally 40 days of fasting.  This meant that people would eat just one meal a day for 40 days and would fast entirely on Fridays.  If 40 days of fasting doesn't sound that bad, give it a try.  It's not as easy as it sounds.

People would often indulge on Fat Tuesday in foods that were rich and the paczki was perfect for that last day.

Thanks to Paula's...we get an extra day this year.
