Traveling by itself can be extremely stressful, then add in the fact that it's a holiday and it can really add to the anxiety.  Doing this one thing will help you out a lot.

Traveling on a holiday weekend can be hectic

Have you ever traveled on a holiday weekend?  The roads see more traffic, and airports are even busier.  More people normally means more stress.  If you're traveling with young children or elderly parents, it can be a handful.

While many people have already gotten to their destination to avoid the hectic scene at the airport, they still have to return home, so this busy weekend is far from over.

New Yorkers are actually pretty inefficient travelers according to a new study

You would think with how many people travel in and out of New York on a daily basis, that it would be a very streamlined process.  However, according to a recent study done by USA Today, New York ranked 4th in the country when ranking the most inefficient travelers. New York also ranked #1 for overpacking and #1 for the most likely to struggle with their carry-on luggage. That means that when it comes to lines being held up at the airport, people who fly in New York are likely to be delayed.

What's the most important thing to do when flying on a holiday weekend?

If you're going to be delayed and there's going to be all this stress before you even step foot on a plane, the most important thing you can do to ease some of that stress is to be sure to get to the airport early.

At this point, that should be a no-brainer, but so many people wait until just an hour or so before a flight to get to the airport.  That won't give you nearly enough time to check in, check your bags, get through security, and then get to your gate.

Most airports suggest an arrival time of around two to two-and-a-half hours before your flight departure.  You can check to see if your flight to or from Buffalo is being canceled or on time by clicking here.

Good luck!
