Residents in the Southtowns near Buffalo, New York are on edge after reports have circulated about a homicide in Elma, New York. Police are investigating as information is still being released.

Channel 4 in Buffalo, New York reports that the murder took place on West Blood Rd. in Elma and details are limited. However, the Erie County Sheriffs indicate that an arraignment is pending as early as Friday.

Elma is a small community just south east of Buffalo, New York.

A woman is dead following an alleged homicide on West Blood Road in Elma.

According to reports and recent studies, violent crimes are rare in this portion of Erie County. CrimeGrade.org gives the area around Elma an "A" rating as seen by the interactive map.

The rate of violent crime in Erie County is 4.346 per 1,000 residents during a standard year. People who live in Erie County generally consider the southeast part of the county to be the safest for this type of crime.

Recently, the Erie County DA released information that shows that gun violence and crimes involving guns has decreased.
