Spending as much as we do at the pumps is bad enough.  If you don't want to have to sit through ads while you do it, there's a way to get some peace.

What do you do when you're pumping gas?

Are you one of the people that watch as the numbers climb?  Do you just stare at the ground?  Do you try to go through the long list of tasks in your mind that you have to get through?

Maybe you're one of those people that have to watch the new ads that pop up while you're filling up.  You know the ones I'm talking about...they make them look like a morning show that give you the "news you need to know" or they simply play ad after ad while you're stuck there.  From an advertising perspective, they're brilliant.  It's one of the few places where you're really not supposed to walk away.  You're there, so you're going to consume those ads...like it or not.

But according to a poster on Reddit, there's actually a way to mute them.  It's true.  Not all heroes wear capes.  This one just marked the instructions right on the pump.

It should be said that we cannot condone vandalizing the property of the gas station.  You shouldn't ever mark pumps or put anything on them.

It looks as though you need to push the two buttons on the bottom left of the screen.  This might actually only work at Speedway stations too.

Has anyone tried this?  Does it actually work?  One of the commenters mentioned that they did it once and the employee was notified and came out to question them.

7 Photos To Show How Busy This WNY Gas Station Can Be

If you try to go to the Seneca One gas station in Buffalo on Perry St. after noon, it's going to be busier than you could imagine, and what I mean by that is -- there will be a longer wait to get gas than there is to talk to a customer service representative.
