You may have heard of this rock band from Rockford, Ill.  I have been a fan of theirs since they first appeared on the music scene in the late 1970's. I have seen them in concert so many times that it would hard for me to give you an exact number, but it has to be right up around 24 or 25 times. Yes, I am a Cheap Trick fan! I have almost all of their catalog at home in my CD collection including some rare imports, live concerts and hard to find recordings. And although some of their albums have been better than others, I have still always loved this band. They are all stellar musicians in their own right. Lead guitarist Rick Neilsen is one of the fastest and tastiest guitarists in rock music.  Lead vocalist Robin Zander has always been a standout singer with few contemporaries. Bassist Tom Petersson can play the bass guitar as well as anyone in rock and was instrumental in developing the 12 string electric bass. Drummer Bun E. Carlos is and always has been one the most solid drummers in rock music. He is a left-handed drummer who usually plays on a right-handed drum kit.  He  is also one of the most down to earth individuals in rock music. He belongs to my drum forum and we have emailed back and forth from time to time.

So tomorrow night I will be making the trek to Lewiston, NY to see one of my all-time favorite rock bands: Cheap Trick. Rick Neilsen's son Dax will be manning the drum kit tomorrow night as Bun E. Carlos is taking a break from touring for a while.  As a fan of these guys for over 30 years, this very well could be the highlight of my Summer!
