New York always has something going on and while people may be moving out of the state, it is one of the most diverse states, with tons of people visiting every year to see why we love New York. 

However, there may be a reason people are leaving, especially if they were living in one of the 10 most dangerous cities in New York. 

Danger in Surprising Places

When you hear the word “dangerous,” you may tend to think of the bigger cities, but that’s not actually the case. In fact, a few of the most dangerous places in New York State are rather close to each other, and they’re relatively small, with New York City being nowhere to be found on the list.

OnlyInYourState revealed their list, according to FBI Statistics, that mapped out the 10 Most Dangerous Cities in New York. 

Consider this an apology-in-advance to the Nickel City. Unfortunately, according to the FBI Statistics, Buffalo is New York’s most dangerous city. On average, there are 1,042 violent crimes per 100,000 residents, making it the city with the highest violent crime rate in New York.

What is the safest place to live in New York?

Looking at the same research, your safest bet is Lewisboro Town and Highlands Town. They have an incredibly low stat of zero crimes reported to the FBI, so you’ll feel safe anytime you’re in either of those towns!
