New York State Public High Schools Ranked #1 in All of America
It is no secret that New York State has some of the best teachers in America. Even just the testing alone in New York State for teachers is above what many states in America requires--meaning: your kids are in good hands.
The data is surrounded by metrics based on the major criteria and more:
- Education
- Test Rates
- Safety
- Bullying
New York State ranked #1 again for another year in a row for overall performance, but with that is a cost. New York State also has one of the highest paid teaching salaries and most money invested per-student.
We often talk about how much New York State teachers get paid and if it is too much or too little (or even maybe it is right on the money). New York State public districts have over a quarter of their teachers who are making a median salary of a least $100,000 according to school district data. Other data agrees with this according to Population Review and Yahoo.
Separate national data released in April 2026 by the National Education Association shows New York teachers earn an average salary of $98,655, nearly $25,000 higher than the national average of $74,495. The NEA data shows teacher pay varies widely by state, and higher-paying states tend to cluster in the Northeast - including New York, which is second on the list to California - where teachers earn an average salary of $103,552, according to the NEA
According to Yahoo News:
In other measured World Population Review rankings, New York also ranked first in school funding and resources, which considers teacher salaries and qualifications and student expenditures. New York ranked fifth in school safety and 18th in academic performance, according to the report.
Thank you to our teachers for everything that they do not only to educate our kids, but to keep them safe, comfortable and in good hands. Not everyone is built to be a teacher in this lifetime so, hats off to you and thank you New York State teachers!
