Dead Black Bear Spotted on the 219
There was a dead black bear on the side of the 219 in Western New York this week and it's getting a lot of attention on social media.
It was close to the Armor Duells exit and unfortunately it looks like it got hit by a car. The bear that was deceased was not a full grown black bear but seemed to be a young cub that possibly got hit by a car. It was there for quite some time because when people noticed it they were posting about it on social media and nearly a day later people are still commenting that the bear was still there. A New York State DEC officer was reportedly on hand eventually when they got a phone call to remove the bear.
Just recently a bear climbed a tree in a residential neighborhood right in Albany you can see the video below
Unfortunately things like this happen, but it is that time of year that there are going to be plenty of bare spottings across Western New York. It is important to note that if you do realize a bear is in your area you make sure that your garbage is closed and secure and bird feeders are hung in an appropriate spot. The bears are just likely looking for food and the best thing to do if you see one is just a completely avoid it.
Earlier this week a listener called us and sent us in a video as well of a black bear that seemed to be shedding in Lancaster, New York. It was pretty full-sized and was caught on a trail cam walking through some vacant land.
