NYS Trooper From WNY Injured On The Road Yesterday

Thoughts and prayers are going out to a New York State Trooper from Western New York who was injured on the job yesterday.

Joseph Gallagher was critically injured while helping a disabled motorist on Sagtikos State Parkway in Suffolk County.  He was struck by another vehicle while setting flares to assist other disabled motorists.

According to ABC 7 NY, Gallagher, 35, was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where officials say he underwent surgery. He's listed in serious condition.

According to Totally Buffalo, Gallagher has family here in West Seneca.
