You may have some fraudulent activity on your credit card statement that you don't even know about. Here's what you should be looking for, according to State Police.

Many people don't even look at their statements anymore

How many times have you gotten an email about your credit card statement being ready, and you don't even look at it? They come in, you file them away in a folder, and then the bill gets paid automatically online. It's become such a simple process that many of us don't even double-check to see if the things we're getting charged for are things that we actually charged.

Police are warning New Yorkers to keep an eye out for this

Do you have either of the phrases, 'Jays Creates' or 'Jays Bakehouse' on your credit or debit card statements? The New York State Police are telling people to check for unauthorized or suspicious transactions listed from those establishments. It's a fast-food restaurant on Transit Road in the town of Clarence and the charges would have occurred between January 15, 2026 and April 10, 2026.

What should you do if you see those charges on your statement?

The Troopers are hoping to identify more victims in this case. If you see these charges on your statement, they're asking you to contact New York State Police at 716-406-6216.

While these electronic statements can become so automatic that you don't even check them anymore, they can also be a blessing. Now, we can also get alerts immediately when something is charged to our cards. Be sure to check them often to avoid becoming a victim in the future.
