President Obama is drawing the cream of the crop as far as talent is concerned when it comes to performers for his inaugural celebration, including a massive gala expected to draw more than 35,000 partiers.

Brad Paisley, Katy Perry, Smokey Robinson, Usher and Alicia Keys  are among the performers set to sing at Obama's inaugural galas Jan. 21 and a children's concert on Jan. 19. Also signed up are Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce, Marc Anthony, Stevie Wonder, John Legend and the cast of "Glee."

The concert and the two official inaugural balls are being held at the Washington Convention Center over the Dr. Martin Luther King holiday weekend when Obama starts his second term.

According to theboot.com, there's been a high demand for admission to the two official affairs. Party planners made available a limited number of tickets to The Inaugural Ball for sale at $60 and they sold out quickly when Ticketmaster accidentally sent out an email ahead of time announcing they were available. Inaugural organizers are trying to stop those sneaky scalpers who have been offering tickets for sale on the internet..

Those unfortunate souls like me without tickets will just have to catch the action on "pay per view".  Not really.  But wouldn't it be a good idea.  For charity of course.
