It's that time of the year. Holiday shopping is well underway across Western New York and if you have not even started your Christmas shopping yet, then it's probably time to get going. Before we know it, Christmas Eve will be here.

The holiday season is fun: the Christmas music, buying presents we know our loved ones will go crazy over, holiday parties and having some more time off from work. However, work, shopping and planning can add to stress during these four weeks.

Many of us shop online nowadays, but there is nothing that replicates shopping in-person. What's the best is going to a store and not knowing what you're going to buy for that special someone. You just want to shop for something and when you see it, you'll know.

There are major plazas in Western New York that people always go to around the holidays: the Boulevard plaza in Amherst and Quaker Crossing plaza in Orchard Park.

If you have ever gone to these two plazas, then you know how much of a pain they can be to navigate.

Going to either on Black Friday is a huge hassle. There are many major retailers in the Boulevard like Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Target and much more. Quaker Crossing has Target, Kohl's, Famous Footwear, Dick's Sporting Goods and Regal Cinemas.

The way these plazas are configured is really why they're such a pain to drive in and out of.

There's not enough room to get onto the access road to get to Niagara Falls Blvd. for the Boulevard plaza, whereas Quaker Crossing has only one main exit and entrance. Technically, you have a backway entry, which gets you to Lake Avenue, but it's a plaza that can backup in a hurry, especially on a busy holiday shopping weekend.

You add in the snowy weather and you get a legendary traffic pain for Buffalonians -- one in the north towns and south towns.
