What an absolutely unbelievable song.

Not only a great, powerful and true song, but the entire organization that truly supports the healing power of music. CreatiVets is a program that takes vets who have returned home after fighting for our country and teams them up with songwriters across the entire United States than can help tell their story.

They Call Me Doc was written through the CreatiVets songwriting program with US Navy Veteran, Shaun Bott. Shaun, a Navy corpsman (medic), was deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom and provided medical support for US Marine convoy operations. He sat down with a few writers in Nashville: Jordan Walker, Johnny McGuire and Brian Caper to share his story.

Walker wrote on Facebook:

I only hope we gave it justice to all the men and women who risk their lives everyday to serve this great nation.
To have Aaron’s vocal on this cut is something that comes full circle for me as we go way back to his days in Staind. Big thanks to Aaron , Vince Gil , and Dan Tyminsky for an amazing rendition.

Then, after it was written it was heard by Vince Gill and Aaron Lewis and they recorded it. His song pays tribute to all “Doc’s” that have served in each war and the hardships they have had to endure.
