The rumors have been confirmed - Is Woodstock's 50th Anniversary Cancelled?  Promoters have revealed the 50th anniversary festival has been cancelled.  The production company issued this statement on Monday - "We don't believe the production of the festival can be executed as an event worth of the Woodstock Brand name."

The promoter says "as a result and after careful consideration......as difficult as it is, we believe this is the most prudent decision for all parties involved.

Among the acts that were set to appear at the three-day festival August 16th thru 18th  at Watkins Glen International Speedway were:

  • The Killers
  • Jay-Z
  • Imagine Dragons
  • Dead and Company
  • Miley Cyrus
  • The Lumineers

A number of original Woodstock performers were also set to perform:

  • David Crosy
  • Canned Heat
  • John Sebestian
  • John Fogerty

According to Billboard many of the performers have already been paid.  Tickets were supposed to have gone on sale last Monday.  Suspicions were raised when promoters then said tickets would go on sale "soon".

Among the issues organizers were dealing with were financing, permits and concerns that Watkins Glen wouldn't be able to accommodate the crowd.
