The 4 Most Likely Buffalo Sabres Players to Be Traded in March
The Buffalo Sabres are back in action on Wednesday night, as they play at the Montreal Canadiens. Puck-drop is at 7 pm.
It looks like the Sabres will miss the playoffs for a 13th straight season, which is tied with the New York Jets for the longest playoff drought in the four major sports. It has gotten to the point that fans have lost hope the team will ever be good again, which doesn't bode well for the approval rating in head coach Don Granato and general manager Kevyn Adams.
The Sabres sit 12 points out of a playoff spot and their playoff chances sit at just 2 percent as of Wednesday.
The 2024 NHL trading deadline is March 8th at 3 pm. It's normally the busiest trade deadline of the four major sports and this is another season the Sabres are looking to be sellers and not buyers.
They could end up trading for a player that could help them past this season, which could be part of a trade that sells off another piece or two. That's what happened in 2003 when a Sabres team near the bottom of the standings traded Chris Gratton to the Phoenix Coyotes for Danny Briere, who blossomed into a star in Buffalo.
We could see a prospect or two traded away or Adams swings a deal for a goaltender, but the most likely trades to be made are four veterans who look to be dealt as rentals for playoff contenders.
Here are the four Sabres players most likely to be traded by March 8th.
