This week we salute Estelle Simpson, an 87-year-old lifelong resident of Springville, NY. Estelle was nominated by her daughter, Lynette Johnson, who writes:

My mother is an amazing 87 year old lifelong Springville NY resident. She was born in the Springville Hotel, and still fondly remembers her parents running the restaurant and building the Springville Bowling alleys, which is still running today! She and my Dad, raised 3 daughters on Mill Street, where she still resides. My Dad passed in 2004, but my Mom has maintained the home ever since. She still mows the lawn and shovels the driveway. You would never know, by seeing her, that she is 87! I am very proud of her and all her hard work! She is grandma to 8 and great grandma to 5, with 1 more on the way. One of her passions was cooking and she still amazes the family with her wonderful meals! She also is generous to her friends by providing "goodies" for them on special occasions! She still drives and prides herself on never receiving a speeding ticket, after all these years! She is also very creative and clever, and never offers a store bought card to anyone. Instead, she always makes a "project" out of it, and her homemade creations are displayed on many a Springville refrigerator! My Mom is well deserving of the honor of being a Special Senior Citizen.

Each week, we’ll be highlighting a senior who has enriched the lives of those in their Western New York community. Whether they are a friend or family, everyone knows a senior who has made a lasting, positive impact on their life.

Nominate that special senior in your life to tell their story. Individual seniors will be selected by Townsquare Media staff for a weekly feature, beginning the week of 9/4/17.
