The Daily Bread Food Truck is the first of its kind in WNY.  When they say they're a not-for-profit truck what exactly does that mean? The breakfast food truck was started from the idea of "get one, give one" to address poverty in the area. Similar to the concept the TOMS shoe company uses, for every breakfast sandwich you buy, you're also buying one for someone else. Simple as that.

Each Sunday through Labor Day, the purple food truck will be parked at 4007 Main St., near Eggert Road, in Eggertsville to sell breakfast to patrons. In a press release from the Daily Bread,  they stated that roughly 60% of students’ families in the Amherst Central School District live below the poverty line and over 40% receive reduced cost or free meals for kids during weekdays; these same families may not be getting adequate nutrition on weekends.

All summer long they run the food truck with mostly volunteer help and 100% of profits after expenses go toward feeding the hungry in the truck’s off-season.

"Between October 2016 and April 2017, Daily Bread delivered 763 healthy and nutritious home-cooked meals to hungry families. That number was achieved thanks to more than 600 qualifying meals purchased last summer, as well direct monetary donations."

Their goal this year is to reach 1,000 "get one, give one" meals.
