I was talking with Dale about the Peyton Manning issue this morning. I got to thinking about the fact that he could have made $28 MILLION for re-signing with them. That’s right. $28 Million before he even played another game. It would have meant a check written out to Peyton for $28 Million simply for returning back to Indianapolis. As a result of his injury and the risk factors, the Colts have passé on that extension. I can’t help but think about this past summer and the “occupy” movements. People camped out here in Buffalo as well to show their disgust and displeasure with Wall Street or more specifically, corporate greed.  Why do professional sports get a free pass on the greed issue? How come the campers don’t set up shop at sporting arenas or ball parks? Here is a guy that would have received $28 million in addition to his salary! Don’t give me the charity argument either. Corporations give back to their communities as well. But because Peyton and other stars are in the limelight, their contributions are always in the news. Let’s be honest, most of these are for show and for tax purposes.

I truly have no problem with either of these groups. We live in a competitive world. The harder you work and the worth you have to someone should be awarded. Since the argument is about being fair…why don’t we see any of the politicians arguing about bonuses of professional athletes?
