None of us are immune to hate speech, rasist banter or political reterhic online.  I've been known to block, unfriend and do whatever needs to be done to keep crap like that off my social pages.  It does seem to get harder and harder to stay on top of clearing out the crap.

With recent tragic events like the shootings in Orlando, Facebook, Twitter + Microsoft are all vowing to remove illegal hate speech within 24 hours, supporting a European Commission code of conduct to rid the Internet messages of hate.

In a code of conduct released Tuesday, the European Commission said its goal is to squash illegal online hate speech before it goes viral.

"Social media is unfortunately one of the tools that terrorist groups use to radicalise young people and racist use to spread violence and hatred. This agreement is an important step forward to ensure that the Internet remains a place of free and democratic expression," Vera Jourova, European Commissioner for Justice, said in a statement.
