There is a new warning from New York State as we get ready for a busy stretch of travel across the Empire State.

The weather is certainly living up to it's promise this month as April has arrived with plenty of rain and storms in New York State. For most families who are planning a trip, the goal is to get out of town to someplace warm.

If that is you and your family, it may be a good idea to heed the warning.

Spring Break WARNING For New York State

According to many reports, there is a fear of a potential measles outbreak, and health officials are staying ahead of it. The state Department of Health has issued a travel advisory for Empire State residents, urging everyone to make sure they are fully vaccinated against measles before traveling internationally or even within the United States.

For us, the spring break was always a time to stay around the house and get ready for Easter. While the other kids we knew would come back with a tan and stories from the beach, we had a "staycation" here in Western New York. It was not all that bad as there are dozens of great things to see and do right there in New York State.

However, traveling is so exciting and if you are smart about it, you can go to so many places in a short amount of time. If we learned anything from the COVID era, it is that we need to be more vigilant about preventing germs and the latest fears over measles are forcing families to do that.
