Star of Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ is a University at Buffalo Grad
There are a LOT of stars who come from western New York.
According to Forbes, the movie "earned a $201.8 million Fri-Sun weekend and $241.9m over the Fri-Mon holiday." Those numbers cement Black Panther's success, and have launched Winston Duke as a star.
Duke was born in Argyle, Tobago, and came to the US when he was 9-years-old, according to his Wikipedia entry. His IMDB bio notes he graduated from Brighton High School in Rochester NY (fun fact: he went to school with YouTube star Jenna Marbles).
Duke graduated from the University of Buffalo with a BA in Theatre, and according to the University at Buffalo, "Duke recently graduated from the Yale School of Drama with his MFA in Acting in 2013."
