Suspect In Area Of Clarence Schools, Superintendents Abruptly Cancels School
UPDATE: The person police are looking for is not a suspect, but a person of interest, per police. The police say the kids and the public are not and were not in danger. On Twitter they wrote: 'Because our activities close to the school buildings would have been a disruption & distraction to the school day'.
What happened at Clarence today? Clarence Schools are going to be closed today. About 6:45 this morning, Clarence schools announced that police are looking for a suspect in the area.
The school must think that either the public would be in danger, or in the way of the search. It is unclear who the suspect is or what they did at this time.
This morning, the Erie County Sherrif's sent out a tweet about who they are looking for: David Cottom, Sr. is being sought in relation to an “ongoing incident in Clarence,” the Erie County Sheriff’s Office says. If you have any information, the police are asking you to call (716) 858-2903.
There was a letter sent home to "To ensure the safety of students and staff, local law enforcement advised that we close school to give them adequate time to resolve the situation," Clarence Superintendent Matt Frahm wrote in a letter sent to the Clarence School community Wednesday morning.
