Hockey Fans Mad Tage Thompson Doubles Down, Defends MAGA Hat
Tage Thompson has been the talk of the Buffalo Sabres for a lot of reasons lately. Thomoson has been under a lot of criticism for what he was wearing when he went to go visit the White House after his gold medal win with team USA.
Tage Thompson was wearing the classic red Make America Great Again hat and tons of social media comments were directed his way calling him a "pig", "disgusting", a "disgrace" and more. He wore it while touring the White House, but not while the team was introduced during President Trump's State of the Union. If you missed it, hockey fans were pretty mad about it yesterday afternoon.
Now, he is defending his hat that he wore and there is not much too it:
I'm proud to be an American, and I have my own faith, my own beliefs, and everyone’s entitled to their own opinions and beliefs, as well,” Thompson, 28, told Outkick on Wednesday, February 25. “I think we should be able to live in peace knowing that not everyone’s going to agree with you.”
He is not wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Another outlet was trying to take down Jack Hughes and put him in a bad situation yesterday as well--asking him about President Trump's comments about the women's hockey team--who also won gold at this year's Olympics, forcing Hughes to defend himself and the team, who laughed a Trump's joke about women's hockey
You're in the moment, the president calls,” Hughes said. “We’re blaring the music and then they pause the music and then the president calls. I don’t think … obviously, it is what it is now", according to USMagazine.com.
Tage Thompson and the Buffalo Sabres beat Jack Hughes and the New Jersey Devils the first game back since the duo has won the gold medal in Milan, Italy.
