The Nashville Songwriters Association holds an awards banquet each year and the song of the year 1997 went to a female artist with a famous last name.
The Carter name was a standard in the early years of country music. Deana Carter's hit "Strawberry Wine" took top honors during the 30th annual awards banquet. The song was written by Matraca Berg and Gary Harrison.
