Retro Nights Coming Back To This WNY Drive-In This Summer
Summer is going to be incredible this year at the Transit Drive-In. If you're looking for a nostalgic night out, this will fit the bill for you.
Sitting at home and watching movies is great, but nothing matches the experience of actually going to the movies. And if the experience you're looking for is that old-time drive-in experience, you're going to want to get to the Transit Drive-In on Tuesdays this summer.
What's so great about a drive-in?
Drive-ins have been around for a long time. According to the New York Film Academy, they've been around since the 1910's but the first one to be patented was in 1930 in 1933 in New Jersey. By the 50's, there were around 4000.
People love them because you essentially have your own space to sit and watch the movie in your own vehicle. You can watch the movie under the stars and adjust the volume of the speakers to go as loud or as quiet as you'd like. The screen is obviously much larger than life. Nothing beats it on a warm summer night.
Where is the Transit Drive-In?
The Transit Drive-In is one of only a couple of drive-ins left in New York state. Although a few did begin to pop back up during the pandemic because of the opportunity to show movies and still encourage social distancing.
You'll find it at 6655 South Transit Road in Lockport.
What is Retro-Night?
Retro-night is coming back to the Transit Drive-in where they'll be showing older movies back to back on Tuesday nights. You'll get movies that were popular as far back as the late 70s and as new as the early 2000s.
What is the lineup?
