Transit Road is Going To Be a Mess for 4 Days
Transit Road is going to be a problem the next 4 days.
There are crews that are going to be striping a very busy intersection in Western New York. Crews will be out striping for the next four days on the corner of Transit Road at North French Road.
EXTRA: Did you know that the guy who was the original "Toll Master" was collecting tolls before the New York State Thruway Authority was even born? Bill Blake from Western New York posted the story on Facebook earlier this week. Isn't it crazy that tolls were 7 cents all the way back then? That seems high for the early 1900s doesn't it?
Before NYS Thruway there were several toll roads throughout WNY. One ran to Lancaster on the Cayuga Plank Road and had a toll booth at Union Road. The toll taker was Joseph Pristine, who lived next to the toll booth. The toll was 7 cents for carriages with one horse, two horses was 17 cents. When the State took over in 1910 Mr. Prestine moved the house to 3270 Union Road. The basic structure still stands today across the street from Cheektowaga Town Hall.
UPDATE: Someone bought the Hidden Shamrock on Transit Road in Depew last year and slowly making some really great updates. Check out what the new owners bought and how much it was going for before they bought it below. The Hidden Shamrock has been closed for almost 10 years after it was once a very popular hot-spot for Lancaster and Depew residents.
Investment property for sale on Transit. The old Hidden Shamrock is for sale in the Depew - Lancaster area for $125,000.
