Martin Truex, Jr.'s day at Auto Club Speedway in California was a lot like a number of his races last season.  The defending Monster Energy NASCAR Cup champion started from the pole, won the first two stages and won the Auto Club 400 for his first victory of the season.  His win wasn't even close.  Second-place Kyle Larson finished nearly 12 seconds back.

Truex led 125 of the 200 laps for his 16th career victory and his first at the Fontana, California track.  At the same time he ended Kevin Harvick's three-race winning streak and his early season dominance.  Harvick and Larson bumped on the 38th lap, but Harvick's car took the worst of it and he finished third from last in 35th place, nine laps back.

Kyle Busch led 62 laps but settled for third.  Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano completed the Top 5.

After three races out west the Cup Series moves back east for the first of its two stops at Martinsville Speedway.
