Popular Western New York Store Celebrates Major Milestone
It’s one of the most well-known stores in Western New York, and they are celebrating a major milestone this weekend!
In Western New York, it’s no secret: we love to shop and support local businesses, and we love celebrating in the joy of a local business’s success!

Vidler’s 5 & 10 is celebrating 93 years in business! It is pretty remarkable that it has been so successful over so many decades, and it is still a fan favorite among Western New Yorkers!
That comes out to 48,880,800 minutes in business! In case you were wondering...
Plus, Vidler’s has caught national attention after being spotted in several movies over the years, including:
- “Romance On Ice”
- “A Prince For Christmas”
- “A Christmas In Vermont”
- “A Christmas Princess”
- “A Royal Christmas Engagement”
A lot of Christmas-themed movies…but you can’t really blame the arts for that one. One of the most magical times of the year doesn’t feel complete until you have taken a trip to Vidler’s to peruse some of the unique Christmas gift ideas!
This weekend, though – you’re going to want to plan a stop at Vidler’s if you’re out in the East Aurora area. They have so many fun festivities planned for this weekend.
The Facebook post says:
“We have our annual anniversary celebration this Saturday, July 15. Festivities will kick off about 11 AM with the cake cutting; we'll have some food sampling in our Housewares dept.; the "Unexpected Buffalo" will be making an appearance; and we'll hand out dimes to the kids for a ride on Sandy, our mechanical horse.
Celebrate with us, have a piece of cake and enjoy shopping like it used to be… and still is at Vidler’s.”
And speaking of anniversaries, Sandy the Mechanical Horse has been galloping for 61 years now! She was first installed in June of 1962.
It’s perhaps one of the oldest locally owned businesses around Buffalo. The only two I can think of that have been around longer are Draudt’s Farm Market in Hamburg, NY and Chef’s Restaurant in Buffalo, NY – both of which are celebrating 100 years this year!
We love to see locally owned businesses thriving! Congratulations on a huge success and thank you for being such a key part of our community over the last several years.
