A couple weeks ago, there was talk of East Aurora possibly banning plastic straws at local restaurants and bars. Now, that possibility is a reality.

On Monday, the East Aurora village board votes to permanently ban plastic straws and plastic stir sticks, according to WGRZ.

Food service businesses will have six months to adhere to the new law. The East Aurora village board also formed a new advisory board to discuss future environmental solutions.

Some places such as Bar Bill already uses paper straws in place of plastic straws but now, the entire village will have to comply to the no plastic rule.
