It's not every day you hear about something like this happening and today, it happened right in our own backyard.

There was a string of events that caused a wall full of windows to be shattered today on Colvin Avenue in Buffalo.  There's a good chance you've seen this stretch of road before.  According to WIVB, around 7 am, a garbage truck ended up getting stuck under an overpass for a railroad between Amherst Street and Linden Avenue on Colvin Avenue.

The overpass is part of a rail line that used to be called The Belt Line because of how it forms a belt around the city.

But the situation didn't end when it got stuck.

The truck has natural gas tanks on it.  When the truck struck the overpass, the gas tanks discharged and the explosion that followed was strong enough that it broke the windows of a nearby building.

The truck was cleared from under the bridge and no one appears to have been injured.

This is not the first time that a truck has gotten stuck under this bridge.  It was just4  months ago that a Ryder truck got stuck after the driver misjudged the height of the bridge.  The question begs to be asked.  Is the bridge too low?  Or are people not paying attention before they try to drive under it?  Do they need more signage leading up to the bridge to make people more aware?  Or do people simply need to just be more aware?

Here are some pictures of the truck that crashed into the overpass 4 months ago
