WNY High Schools May Start Later In The Morning
The early classes for high school students may be a thing of the past. No more waiting at the bus stop in the dark on a cold winter morning.
There is a push to start high school at a later time.
According to Metro Source News:
Fifty-nine-percent of those surveyed by the New York State School Boards Association believe the beginning of the school day should be pushed back to eight-30 a-m. Supporters say a later start time would allow teens to get the recommended amount of sleep each night.
The extra sleep may help fight certain medical issues and help fight depression.
We used to wait in the dark for our bus to arrive for high school. Our family had the benefit of begin the last on the bus and first off in the afternoon. That meant others had been on the bus for nearly and hour before they even got to our stop!
