The World’s Largest Rubber Duck Is Coming Back To Buffalo
The United States is celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, and as strange as it sounds, one of the many ways we will be celebrating in Western New York is by bringing the world's largest rubber duck back to Canalside.
The World's Largest Rubber Duck is coming back
They call her "Mama Duck," and it's not the first time she has visited Buffalo. At over 60 feet tall, she really is huge. You may remember when she came the first time. She was here in 2016, and it was a big deal. People came from all over the place to take pictures with her.
In July, she will be coming back to Buffalo with her son, "Timmy," who is over 10 feet tall. It's all part of a celebration to commemorate America's 250th birthday. The duo will be at Canalside starting July 3rd through July 5th.
The Ducks Won't Be In The Water This Time
You may remember the last time Mama Duck was here, she was in the water, but this time, they will be available for pictures on land. They're hoping that this will make them more accessible to people. They will be able to get closer to them.
“It will be landside this year. That just vies people more of an opportunity to get closer to it, get closer photos of it, and they can just see it a lot better.” - Brigid Burns, marketing and promotion coordinator of Buffalo Waterfront
There Will Also Be A Fireworks Display
Being that it is an Independence Day celebration, it makes sense that there will also be fireworks on July 3rd, along with a concert by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. While the concert is free, they do require tickets, which can be found by clicking here.
There will also be other activities and vendor booths from businesses like BuffaLove Apparel.
