On Tuesday afternoon, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz made a huge announcement when it comes to attending games and events at both Highmark Stadium and KeyBank Center in the coming weeks.

Poloncarz, along with the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, announced that all guests ages 12 and over will be required to show proof of at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine until October 31st.

After October 31st, guests 12 and over must provide proof of full vaccination (both doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine).

This starts on September 25th for all events at the KeyBank Center and September 26th for Highmark Stadium.

Poloncarz says that no photocopies of vaccine cards will be allowed as proof of vaccination.

Those attending games and events at Highmark Stadium and KeyBank Center must provide either:

  • A vaccination card
  • Excelsior pass or Excelsior pass plus
  • Clear digital vaccine card
  • Government digital vaccine proof from outside New York State (if not a resident of New York State)

There will be no test-out option, either. After Halloween (October 31st), those who are not fully vaccinated will not be allowed at games or events at Highmark Stadium and KeyBank Center; those include all Bills and Sabres home games.

Those who are considered fully vaccinated must be two weeks (14 days) removed from their second dose. That means the second dose of Pfizer or Moderna or a single dose of Johnson & Johnson must be completed by October 17th.

The KeyBank Center mandate starts September 25th with the Eric Church concert. The Highmark Stadium mandate starts with the week 3 home game against The Washington Football Team on September 26th.

Those who are season ticket holders, who are not willing to get vaccinated, will be given a refund but will lose their seats and seniority for seats moving forward, per Ali Touhey of WKBW.
