There have been so many hits for Dierks Bentley over the past 16 years. He's had 19 number one singles but one song still stands out as a classic...it was also Dierks' very first radio single.

"What Was I Thinkin'" was released in April of 2003 as the debut single of then unknown Dierks Bentley. It reached number one on the Mediabase country chart the third week of September.

It also hit number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

Written by Dierks, Deric Ruttan and Brett Beavers, the song was the first single off Bentley's self-titled, debut album.

This song never gets old. The lyrics and that music are insanely catchy. There's also something incredibly charming about the way Dierks sings the song.

"What Was I Thinkin'" has to be one of the defining country songs of the 2000's.
