After a decade of having the blue and gold plates in New York, we are getting new licence plates.

The new plate design is part of the state’s push to switch drivers over to reflective, easier-to-read plates, according to the governor’s office.

There are 5 total designs that you can vote on now through SEPTEMBER 2,

The designs include the bridge that is named after Governor Cuomo's father, a few Statue of Liberty options and one with the Falls and City in it. Most have “Excelsior” — Latin for “Ever upward”

"Starting in April, drivers with license plates that are 10 years or older will have to get new plates for $25 a pop — plus another $20 on top of that if they want to keep their old plate number."
