You see the headline and think to yourself, "there's no way that happened." But according to two separate airline pilots, it did.

According to WIVB, federal and local authorities have launched an investigation after a person in a jet pack was reportedly sighted near the Los Angeles International Airport, at 3,000 feet in the air.

The incident happened on Sunday evening around 6:30 pm. It was first reported by an American Airline pilot, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Here's what the pilot said to the air traffic controller.

“Tower, American 1997. We just passed a guy in a jet pack,” the American Airlines pilot reports to the control tower.

Air traffic control asked which side the man in the jet pack was on.

“Off the left side, at maybe … 300 yards or so, about our altitude,” the pilot responds.

Not only that, but a Southwest Airline pilot also reported witnessing the guy in the jet back.

“We just saw the guy pass by us in a jet pack,’’ the pilot says in the recording.

The FAA and FBI are both looking into the incident.

If a jet pack can get you 3,000 feet in the air, um, no thank you...
