ANOTHER Utility Company is Raising It’s Prices in 2025
Just when you thought your utility bills have already hit a record high, ANOTHER utility will get a major increase in Spring 2025.
It's insane.
Have you looked at your NYSEG bill lately? It seems like everyone in Western New York is getting all of these extremely high prices and they aren't going down at all. Our bill went up from about $150 a month to almost FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. People have been suggesting it is the new smart meters that NYSEG is installing, but the company insists that this is not the reason for the increase and it is cost of electricity going up.
Unfortunately, NYSEG might not be your only headache in 2025. National Fuel has suggested a big rate increase for your gas and they are trying to get that approved.
While NYSEG and RG&E customers have been the focus recently having implemented their rate hikes in November 2023. National Grid has its rate hike proposal currently before the State Public Service Commission meaning those customers will more than likely see their utility bills increase within the next year.
The regulator is expected to issue a decision on National Grid's proposal before the end of the year. A public hearing on the rate hike is scheduled for Tuesday, September 24 at 4 p.m. in the Buffalo Central Library Auditorium", according to WGRZ.
The price increase, if it all goes according to plan will be raised in Spring 2025. According to National Grid's press release, they have to get approvals that may take a look of hoops to jump through:
Throughout the rate case process, we will work with the Department of Public Service and interested stakeholders to explore options, such as a multi-year rate plan, that could result in lower annual bill increases. The Commission may approve, modify, or reject any or all of the proposed tariff changes.
