Best Place To Recycle A Pumpkin In Western New York
Now that Halloween and spooky season are over, we are all ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas! But what do you do with the pumpkins that are left sitting on the porch?
Sure, you could let them sit until the next big garbage day. Or perhaps toss them in the woods or your compost pile in the back. But there are some places that will gladly take them from you and put them to good use.
The rush to get things ready for Halloween may include a trip to a pumpkin patch. That might mean you have large pumpkins or a pumpkin surplus!! But either way, the folks at the Buffalo Botanical Gardens have a plan and an invitation.
According to a post on their Facebook:
SAVE YOUR PUMPKINS! Compost your pumpkins this season and save them from the critters and the trash! We have partnered with Farmer Pirates Compost and Buffalo River Compost to turn your sloppy pumpkins into rich compostable material! Drop your pumpkins off at the Botanical Gardens on November 3-5 from 10-4!

A LITTLE EXTRA ABOUT THE BOTANICAL GARDENS
Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens are a great place to visit for the family! It is one of the true gems that we have here in Western New York. Never been? They are easy to find at 2655 South Park Avenue!
Aside from taking a pumpkin to be recycled, there are some who inquire about donating plants. According to their website:
At this time we are only able accept rare and unusual plants. If you believe your plant fits that description, please send a photo of the plant, its common and/or Latin name along with any other pertinent information via email to - info@buffalogardens.com
