The Bills Sign A New Quarterback To Their Roster
The Bills are just one preseason game into the 2024 season and already today, they're making a move on a quarterback.
Josh Allen did not play a whole lot during the first preseason game of the year against the Bears. He went 3 and out on his first possession and then as soon as the first quarter ended he was pulled after running for a first down.
We did however get to see a lot of the backups on Saturday. Mitch Trubisky and Shane Buchele both left a lot to be desired after their performance against Chicago. The Bills had just 200 total yards and averaged 3.1 yards per play. It wouldn't be enough to get it done during the regular season.
Today, the Bills are signing former Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci according to the sports agency that represents him.
DiNucci was a 7th-round draft pick for the Dallas Cowboys in the 2020 Draft. He saw some action with the Cowboys after a couple of injuries forced starter Andy Dalton to the sidelines in October of that year. The first game was October 19th against the Cardinals. On October 25th against the Commanders DiNucci ended up going 2 for 3 for 39 yards. The shocking statistic though was that he ended up taking 3 sacks on just 12 snaps.
DiNucci is expected to be a replacement for 3rd string quarterback Shane Buchele who suffered a neck injury against the Bears during the first preseason game of the year. He's expected to miss multiple weeks with that injury.
The Bills next game will be another preseason matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday in Pittsburgh.
