BY THE NUMBERS: Free College In New York State–Here’s How Many Will Get It
Here is the free college program, Excelsior scholarships, in New York State by the numbers. Over the weekend Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Sunday that about 53%of full-time SUNY students will have free tuition this school year.
$100,000--Students parents had to make less than for kids to get free college.
75,000--Students who applied for free college.
22,000-- students that will have their tuition paid for by New York.
23,000-- students who applied will have their tuition covered through other assistance programs by NYS.
6,000--students still waiting for Excelsior final approval.
$6,670-- annual tuition for SUNY Schools.
$110,000--parents will have to make less than this amount combined for their kids' free college next year.
