Cam Shares Her Version of Sam Smith’s ‘Palace’ at CRS 2018 [WATCH]
Cam shared a song called "Palace" with a live audience at a Sony Music Nashville event on Feb. 6. Readers can press play above to watch a video of the live performance. The song appears as a collaboration on Sam Smith's critically acclaimed pop album The Thrill of It All.
"You're visiting a place in your mind that has these ruins of this palace that you thought you were gonna build together," Cam says of the inspiration behind the song, "and now it's just ruins."
Cam and Tyler Johnson, who brought the pop and country stars together, co-wrote the song with Smith, who recorded it for his latest album, which was released in November of 2017. The song has been a hit among live audiences.
Cam's rendition of the emotional tune captures her powerful, soaring vocals in the moving lyrics: "My head is filled with ruins / Most of them are built with you / Now the dust no longer moves / Don't disturb the ghost of you," the first verse opens.
"And I'm gonna miss you / And I still wait / Sometimes I wish / We never built this palace / But real love is never a waste of time," the chorus resounds. "Palace" has strong international resonance: It's a top international song in Japan.
Cam recently released "Diane," the first single from her upcoming sophomore album. A release date for the project has not yet been announced. To stay up to date on all the details, head over to Cam's website for the latest news about the album.
