It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This week, our Hometown Hero is from Cheektowaga, NY.  It’s United States Army Specialist Christopher Michels!

Christopher enlisted in 2006 and after completing training at Fort Leonordwood, he entered into The Army Corps of Engineers to complete his training for Combat Engineer in 2007. He was stationed at Fort Riley Kansas until deployment to Afghanistan in the fall of 2007. An exemplary field soldier that survived an anti tank mine explosion halfway through his deployment. After returning to Fort Riley he took the opportunity to be stationed in Fort Benning Georgia in 2008. His enlistment ended in 2009. Christopher returned to Kansas for two years and then back to western New York in 2011. He helped umpire for South Cheektowaga Baseball Assoctation (SCBA). Christopher is a family man and baseball enthusiast.

 

This week, we are honored to name Christopher Michels our Hometown Hero of the week!
