Recently I had the privilege to tour the Buffalo VA Medical Center, and talk with some of the amazing folks who make all of the wonderful services at the VA possible.

The key takeaway I had was that any and all veterans should apply at the VA, because chances are you will be eligible for their services and benefits. If you enlisted any time after 1980 and meet the minimum duty requirements, you should definitely apply at the VA to see what they can do for you. That includes any active duty in the military, naval or air service, and extends to the Reserves or National Guard who were called up to active duty.

We encourage any and all veterans to apply either by visiting the VA, calling 716-834-9200 (or the 800 number at 800-532-8387) or visiting the VA website at Buffalo.VA.gov.

I was able to talk to their women veteran program manager, Julie, to discuss some of the female-specific services that the VA Hospital offers. There is always a need for volunteers, so if you or someone you know is interested in donating some of their time to help out veterans, this is your best opportunity to make a difference.

If you or someone you know could benefit from these services, please call 1-855-VA-WOMEN (1-855-829-6636) or visit https://www.buffalo.va.gov/services/women/index.asp.
