This is the latest case in recent arrests due to comments made on social media sites. This facebook comment made by a 21-year old college student had her arrested moments afterwards. What's even worse is that a friend of the girl that 'liked' the comment. Shortly after police were knocking on her door as well.

After Shaheen Dhada, a 21-year-old college student  went to facebook to vent about her frustration after Indian political figure, Thackeray died which caused Mumabi  to shut down, according to the Huffington Post. She was shortly after arrested and her friend Renu Srinivasan was also charged for ‘liking’ the status which, is even more ridiculous.

The post? Here it is…

“"Respect is earned, not given and definitely not forced. Today Mumbai shuts down due to fear and not due to respect."

She also spoke out in frustration when an estimated 2,000,000 people took to the streets of India after Thackeray died. It all amounted to a massive shutdown of the city as many businesses including transportation providers closed.

But, here’s the catch too.  India is the world's largest democracy supports the freedom of speech. Ironically, when two citizens speak out about how they felt, they were jailed over facebook.

Imagine if that happened in America. Especially, after the Presidential election just happened nearly two weeks ago and everyone seemed to through their ‘two cents’ on facebook.

What do you think?
