DEBATE: Should My Friend Send The Wedding Money Back?

How do you think that this should play out here?

• One of our college friends got married this Summer to a longtime girlfriend.
• They went away on their honeymoon.
• 8 days later, they told some of us that they were getting divorced.

Now, here's where the debate came in last night.

Should he return the money that was in the cards? 

On one hand, some of the group was arguing that they put up to $200 in the card as a gift and they're not even using it to start their lives together. Plus, they haven't even received a thank you card from them yet.

On the other hand, we were arguing, that everyone STILL WENT to the wedding, had a dinner and drinks and it was a tough time in the kid's life now going through a divorce.
