For shoppers across New York State, there could be some big changes coming to your local Dollar Tree. As families prepare for back-to-school shopping and look for ways to stretch their budgets, Dollar Tree has announced plans that could impact the way many customers shop.

How has your summer been going? Have you had enough of the kids yet?

We joke about counting down the days until school starts, but the truth is we love having everyone home and spending afternoons together as a family. While it’s nice to get back into a routine during the school year, summer is filled with memories that always seem to go by too quickly.

Back-To-School Is Just Around The Corner

Before long, the days will get shorter, and kids across New York will be heading back to school. Have you already started seeing back-to-school displays in stores or online? Maybe your child’s school has already sent home a supply list.

It feels like those lists arrive earlier every year, but it makes sense. Giving families extra time to prepare can help spread out the cost of school supplies. We’re usually guilty of waiting until the last minute, but with the lists coming out earlier, we’ve found ourselves getting a head start more often.

Dollar Tree Has Big News

recently announced that it plans to close a number of stores

Everyone is looking for ways to save money these days. Whether it’s using online coupons or shopping at discount retailers, every dollar counts.

This summer, we’ve found ourselves shopping at Five Below quite a bit. While not everything in the store costs under five dollars anymore, there are still plenty of affordable items our kids enjoy, especially pool toys, outdoor games, and backyard activities. Since those items often end up broken or lost before the summer is over, paying less for them just makes sense.

At this point, Dollar Tree has not announced which specific stores will close, and there is no official list of where the roughly 400 new locations will open. However, given the company’s continued expansion, there’s a good chance many communities, including those in New York State, will continue to see new discount stores opening in the coming years.

With back-to-school shopping season right around the corner, now is a great time to start planning ahead, watch for sales, and take advantage of the savings that discount retailers can offer.

Will Any Dollar Tree Stores in New York Close?

So far, Dollar Tree has not released a list of New York locations that could be affected. As additional information becomes available, shoppers will have a better idea of whether any local stores will be closing or if new locations will be coming to their communities.
