A very popular and iconic restaurant in Western New York has closed its doors and fans of the restaurant are wondering if they will be coming back. It is an Italian staple within the community.

Santasiero's over on Niagara Street in Buffalo is now closed. At least for the time being.

Why is Santasiero's closed right now?

The restaurant is 104 years old and is a 4th generation family restaurant. Their beloved owner, John Brands Jr. died unexpectedly back in August and it is still shut down until further notice. They were known for their Italian dishes, meatballs, parms and their pasta fagioli soup.

Was this the best Italian Restaurant in Western New York? What would you put as your #1 of these and why? What makes them the best in Western New York because they are all really, really good. Some have better food, some have better outdoor spaces, some are more legendary than the other for one reason or another but they are certainly the BEST in Western New York.

Buffalo is home to some of the best restaurants in Western New York, but many people don't really realize how much work goes into making a restaurant a very smooth operation. In a world where there are so many options to get food and get food delivered, it is harder than ever for some of these guys and girls who are running your favorite eatery to stay alive. That is why it is more important than ever to support you local, favorite restaurants.
